Judy H. Rothschild, Ph.D. is a national recognized trial/jury consultant and sociologist. With more than 30 years of experience in the field of trial/jury consulting, she has consulted on nearly a 1000 cases in State and Federal courts throughout the U.S.

Dr. Rothschild’s keen insights, creative approaches, and experience on hundreds of cases will help you select the best jury, improve your witnesses, develop great graphics, maximize the strong points of your case and diffuse its weak points. Dr. Rothschild specializes in civil litigation, including: business and commercial litigation, contracts, construction, professional liability, intellectual property, anti-trust, employment, and plaintiff personal injury.

When working on behalf of plaintiffs, her consultation has contributed to multi-million dollar verdicts for commercial, class action, and individual plaintiffs.  She is also recognized as one of the nation’s leading jury consultants in tobacco litigation having helped her clients win landmark settlements and verdicts in the millions and billions of dollars. When consulting for defendants, her input has helped defendants prevail in complex business and contract cases.

She began her trial/jury consulting career in 1984 with National Jury Project (NJP), one of the founding firms in the field of trial consulting.  A Senior Trial Consultant at NJP until 2000 when she moved on to start her own practice (JHRothschild Consulting).  In 2012 she was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society of Trial Consulting (ASTC), the national professional organization for jury and trial consultants with hundreds of members.  In 2015, she was invited to serve as a member of a select panel of Jury Consultant Advisors to NYU Civil Jury Project.

Dr. Rothschild will work with you one-on-one to design a workplan that will answer your questions, hone your skills, respect you budget, and help you succeed.  Workplans focus on her helping attorneys with case presentation, crafting opening statements and closing arguments, witness presentation, graphic design, and jury selection. She also designs and conducts mock jury research, including focus groups, mock trials, voir dire training sessions, and post-trial jury interviews. On large cases, Dr. Rothschild will lead a team of skilled professionals who will enhance your success at mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial.

With a  doctorate degree in Sociology from University of California, Berkeley, her dissertation, Mediation as Social Control, highlighted the role of justice and communication in mediation.  A trained mediator she has taught classes in mediation at California State Universities, and directed a Community Mediation Center affiliated with the University of California, Berkeley.  She has also taught classes in Sociology at the University of California and was a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for the Study of Social Change at UC Berkeley.  She has consulted as a sociologist on projects for state, federal, and private organizations on topics such as drug use, traumatic stress, domestic violence, and judicial training.
